Purely down to your opinions, don't worry about my needs or wants. If you needed to pick up one of these which would you go for?

2014 Gen Coupe R Spec or 2013 FoST
http://m.carmax.com/vehicle/115351…
I'm having a hard time deciding and need some input. The FoST is coming from carmax which I've heard good and bad but it is an ST3 model so it's top tier where as the Gen Coupe is a stripper model though coming straight from the dealer.
Edit: this is why I love Oppo. Lots of great opinions and bits of info. I'll be taking this with me on my search.

Genesis, because rear wheel drive. Also, Hyundai's warranty is pretty good.

Hyundai.

I would go with the FoST. I have dogs that need to be hauled around sometimes.
Another thing is, the FoST doesn't stand out quite as much so a cop may be less likely to pull you over vs a red sports coupe.

I'm not really sure. This is a great question...... Gen Coupe FTW. Sorry but I'd much rather have some RWD fun in my life. That and I like to be a little different. Everyone is jumping for the FoST and FiST brothers about now.

FoST doesn't have a limited slip, earlier you seemed intent on modding. I wouldn't mod a FWD for power without a LSD so FoST is a pure no go for me. Especially against a RWD with LSD.

I'm going to guess that about five people will ask why the Fiesta ST isn't on the list.
I don't like the clutch in the Genesis at all, It doesn't feel great to me. I'd go for the FoST personally, It just feels higher quality.

Ford. Don't buy base.

FoST. There are no downsides to having practicality in your sports car and STs have steep depreciation. If you could bundle it with an extended warranty, it sounds like a real winner.

Drive them both, then buy which ever one excites you the most.

If you can live without a sunroof, the new car 10-year /100k warranty is awesome.

I'm more of a FWD hatch guy myself.
But all about the no frills base models.
Manual all the things!

Why isn't the ST on the list?

I would get the Hyundai. It's the one that actually looks like a sports car, and probably more reliable.

Hyundai.

Genesis because everyone and their mother has a FoST.

Gen Coupe because I kinda lust after one

R-spec isn't base.

I thought stripper was Americanese for base.

It sort of is. They got rid of the extra stuff I believe - like heated seats, power seats, satnav, etc. Makes it more of a track car... Even though they have a track edition which has all the goodies. It's confusing.

I vote for the Hyundai, because what the other folks are saying, RWD and Hyundai quality (no longer an oxymoron).

Unfortunately, there is no 2.0T Track in the US anymore (it was only offered for the first year). However, it's still available in Canada.
I just wish the R-spec had a sunroof!

The Focus ST is so so much more fun, in my opinion. A lot depends on how and where you want to drive it, but just performance-wise, I'd take an ST over anything within $20K of its price.

I've heard the turbo lag on the 2.0 is pretty appalling. Even though it is not RWD I would have to go with the Focus.

Correction for that issue is a simple tune away

Also, even the V6 probably gets better real world mileage.

LSD is in again?
Who gnu?

Hyundai Genesis. RWD and I haven't witnessed any clutch problems in the events I've seen them at. Unless you have an affinity for wanting the Focus, don't get it.

And risk losing that sweet sweet Hyundai warranty.

they have a track edition on the 3.8, the 2.0 gets base, R-Spec and Premium.

If the ST wasn't wrong wheel drive I'd be all over it.
